How to make a '52 things I love about you' book out of playing cards

So Valentine's Day is here and this year me and my fiancé decided that we wouldn't spend any money on presents, instead we would make them for each other using things around the house.

After looking around Pinterest, Etsy and a few other sites, I decided to make a book on 52 reasons why I love him using playing cards, this is how I did it.

What you will need:
- Playing cards (I picked red, but any colour will work)
- 2 split rings (These are available at most craft stores)
- A hole punch
- Labels in a size of your choice
- Any additional decoration you want

The first thing you will need to do is think of your 52 reasons

If you end up struggling you can always look on Pinterest or other sites for some inspiration.

When you have decided what you want to put in your book, you then need to choose what size labels you will be using, I chose labels smaller than the card to give a bordered look.
You can either type or write your message (my handwriting isn't great, so I opted to type it)

After this, you need to stick the labels onto the cards, remember to allow room when doing this for hole punching as you don't want to loose any of your message. I suggest using a joker from an old deck as a practise card.

When using the hole punch as normal on the cards, I found the holes were too far apart for the look I was trying to achieve. The best way to get neat holes is by using the ridges on the lower part of the hole punch to line it up. This way the holes fit much better on the cards.

Which gives this look to the card

Now you're ready to attach them all together using the split rings, for this step you could also use ribbon or string.

As I was using old playing cards I didn't have any extra cards in my red deck to use as the front cover, so I used a joker from another set of cards.

When it is all attached together, any other decoration can be added.

Here is the finished result:
For decoration I used red hearts.

This little book is such a cute keepsake and I really enjoyed making it, hopefully you will too!
